Is Your Attorney Your Advocate?

The Role of Your Attorney

While each state's oath may vary in its specific wording, they all require lawyers to uphold fundamental principles, including:

  • Supporting the Constitution of the United States: This is a crucial obligation, requiring lawyers to act to ensure the supreme law of the land is followed and upheld.
  • Faithfully discharging the duties of an attorney: This encompasses adhering to the rules of professional conduct, which dictate ethical behavior both inside and outside the courtroom.
  • Conducting oneself with integrity and civility: Many states explicitly emphasize the importance of honesty, dignity, and courteousness in the legal profession.

The core tenets of the lawyer's oath generally include:

  • Do no falsehood or consent to its commission: This emphasizes the importance of honesty and integrity in legal practice.
  • Not promote or sue any false, groundless or unlawful suit: This highlights the responsibility to only pursue cases that are just and ethically sound.
  • Delay no person for lucre or malice: This emphasizes the importance of not hindering justice for personal gain or ill will.
  • Act with fidelity to the courts and clients: This underscores the duty to represent clients diligently and honestly while respecting the judicial process.

By taking the oath, lawyers become guardians of truth and the rule of law.  They are essential to the fair and impartial administration of justice.

But, is this reality in the Court System?  Are women who are wrongfully victimized being justified in the Courts or are they further abused at the hands of those hired to protect them?  Let's discuss.
